Employee Contributions

For employees, medical coverage, contribution rates, and available insurance carriers are based on the county in which they live or work. An employee may choose their level of coverage whether it be single, couple, parent plus, or family.

An employee may also elect to waive health insurance coverage and have the employer contribution put into a tax-deferred health care spending account. Employees are eligible to participate if they are regular full-time or a retiree under age 65. Some regular part-time employees are also eligible to participate.

Rates are subject to change each year at open enrollment (January 1st).

Plan year January 1st - December 31st.

Retiree's participation is administered by their chosen retirement system.

The employee contribution rates are different than those of the KCTCS personnel system. There are also two different schedules based upon smoker on non-smoker.

Employees are eligible to participate if they are regular full-time, regular half-time, and in some temporary positions.

Rates are subject to change each year at open enrollment (July 1st).

Plan year July 1st - June 30th.
