Three PPO plans: Commonwealth Essential,
Commonwealth Enhanced and Commonwealth Premier are available state-wide
through the Commonwealth of Kentucky's self-funded plan, the Kentucky
Employees Health Plan (KEHP). An employee may choose their level
of coverage whether it be single, couple, parent plus, family or
cross-reference.
Employees are eligible to participate if they are regular full-time
or a retiree under age 65. Some regular part-time employees are
also eligible to participate.
An employee may also elect to waive health insurance coverage and
have the employer contribution put into a tax-deferred health care
spending account. This option is available to active employees only.
Rates are subject to change each year at open enrollment (January
1st).
Plan year January 1st - December 31st.

The employee contribution rates are different than those of the
KCTCS personnel system. There are also two different schedules based
upon smoker on non-smoker. |

Description |
Employee's medical coverage and available insurance carriers
are based on the county in which they live. An
employee may choose their level of coverage whether it be
employee only, employee + child(ren), employee + spouse,
employee + family. Employees are eligible to participate
if they are regular full-time, regular half-time, and in some
temporary positions.
Rates are subject to change each year at open enrollment (July 1st).
Plan year July 1st - June 30th.
