ACTC's Fulfilling The Promise Campaign Goal set at $3.2 million
With an air of excitement from its leaders, the Community & Technical College Foundation of Ashland, Inc. publicly announced its Fulfilling the Promise Campaign on Thursday, April 6, 2006. The campaign goal, set at $3.2 million, for Ashland Community and Technical College focuses on initiatives that will enhance its ability to prepare students for the workforce and further their education with a wide range of degree and certificate programs.
These initiatives include; an endowment to support the Science and Technology Fair for K-12 students, the creation of Faculty Endowed Chairs, Workplace Literacy Program aimed at increasing access to job training and developmental education for both employers and employees and the Campaign's focused initiative, an efficient Child Development Center for the College.
"I support organizations I believe as worthy and ACTC is indeed a worthy organization," said Guy Spriggs, campaign chair. "With the help of the Foundation Board and other volunteers, we will reach this goal. To date, we have pledges and gifts of $2.3 million. But our goal is $3.2 million, we are $900,000 away from our goal. We will build a child development center for our students and their children."
Ashland Community and Technical College deeply appreciates the enthusiasm, generosity and leadership of volunteers and donors who are working to ensure the success of the Fulfilling the Promise Campaign.
"Our most pressing need among our initiatives is our Child Development Center," said Dr. Greg Adkins, president of ACTC. "The current child care area is on the first floor of our classroom building. It is in space that was designed for college class rooms, not for child care."
