Dear Friends:
It is my distinct pleasure to announce that Henderson Community College is initiating its second major
gifts campaign -- the Fulfilling the Promise Campaign. Over the years, the college has established a
tradition of providing quality service and instruction to our local citizens of Henderson, Union and
Webster counties. Since 1998, our enrollment has increased by 87 percent. In the last five years, the
college has doubled its technical degree programs and added two diploma programs and nearly thirty
one-year certificate programs. Individuals who complete customized business and industry training
courses can now apply that knowledge toward certificate or degree programs.
All of these recent efforts reflect the college's role in helping to strengthen our area's economic and
technological competitiveness. Despite the significant growth and expansion that occurred between
1997 and 2003, Henderson Community College did not receive any increase in state appropriations to support the institution's operating
expenses. As a result, private support is necessary if Henderson Community College is to continue to provide service to the tri-county region.
Several initiatives have been identified as part of Henderson Community College's Fulfilling the Promise Campaign. These initiatives will
address the success of our students, expand skill development for our local workforce and assist our employers in meeting the demands of an
increasingly competitive global economy.
Your participation in the Fulfilling the Promise Campaign will facilitate Henderson Community College's efforts in addressing the educational,
economic and workforce development needs for Henderson, Union and Webster counties. I invite you to take part in this exciting opportunity,
and thank you in advance for your thoughtful consideration.
Patrick R. Lake, Ed.D.
