Henderson Questions & Answers

Why should Henderson Community College conduct a major gifts campaign?

After conducting an extensive strategic planning process and commissioning a community feasibility study, more than $11 million of needs were identified. Community members consider $3.5 million critical, and encouraged the leadership of the College to move forward with a major gifts campaign.

As a tax-supported institution, why does Henderson Community College need to raise private funds?

HCC is a state assisted, not state funded school and recent developments in state funding have resulted in cuts to already limited funding. Despite this lack of additional funds, enrollment at HCC has risen more than 87% over the past 5 years, and projections indicate that this trend will continue. Private, recurring support is critical and will ensure that HCC continues to meet the needs of this community.

Does the College have a recognized foundation that I can give my gift to?

The College Foundation, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, which is officially recognized by KCTCS. Gifts to the Foundation are deposited into the Foundation accounts and the Finance & Investment Committee, which is appointed by the College Foundation President, provides oversight for these accounts.

Is my gift to the campaign tax deductible?

As a not-for-profit organization, all gifts to the College Foundation, Inc. are eligible to be tax deductible.
