Peoples Bank Pledges Scholarships
Peoples Bank of Morehead and Sandy Hook recently pledged $25,000 for scholarships for students of the Rowan Campus of Maysville Community and Technical College (MCTC). Peoples Bank CEO Proc Caudill, and Cindy Faulkner, Peoples Bank vice president and office manager, presented the first installment of the five-year pledge to Rowan Campus Chief Officer Jamie Brown. The money will be used to fund Jane E. Caudill scholarships of $500 each to be awarded to ten Maysville Community and Technical College students from Rowan and Elliott counties each year. Applications are available at Peoples Bank, Rowan and Elliott County High Schools, and the Rowan Campus of MCTC and on the websites.
Peoples Bank has long been a supporter of post-secondary education. Mr. Caudill serves as the MCTC-Rowan Campus Campaign Lead Gift Chairman and is a Maysville Community and Technical College Foundation Board member. MCTC honored Peoples Bank as a Benefactor of the Year at the 2005 Kentucky Community and Technical College System Benefactors' Gala.
"This scholarship commitment confirms our continued support to our Rowan and Elliott County communities. Education is the economic engine that drives our economy. For our young people to be competitive in the work force today we feel it is our job as good corporate citizens to help promote their educational growth through scholarships. We are excited about expanding our Jane E. Caudill scholarship program with MCTC - Rowan Campus." Mr. Caudill said.
Peoples Bank opened its doors December 1926, in a small two-story building on Main Street in Sandy Hook, Kentucky. The bank has occupied several offices in Sandy Hook over the years. The current office, now on the corner of Main and Jane Street, was constructed in 1969. In 1998, Peoples Bank opened an office in Morehead, Kentucky. For eighty years, the name and reputation of Peoples Bank has been synonymous with compassion, educational excellence, and community service.
"Peoples Bank is an exceptional community partner. Giving students support is another way they are investing in this region," said Dr. Augusta Julian, MCTC President/CEO. "Students can get a great start on their education through access to these scholarships."
"We are in the process of building a much needed scholarship pool intended to support students of the Rowan Campus," added Cara Clarke, MCTC director of resource development. "The gift from Peoples Bank really helped jump-start the funding drive."
