Owensboro Case for Support
COMMUNITY, WORKFORCE, AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

DISTRICT ADVANCEMENT ENDOWMENT
$1.5 Million Restricted and $1 Million Unrestricted
If education is the driving force behind the engine of economic development, then Owensboro Community and Technical College provides the fuel that keeps the engine running. OCTC offers programs that create a well-trained workforce, which in turn helps local businesses and industries remain competitive. Our College's Center for Community and Economic Development is the fifth largest consumer of ACT's WorkKeys assessments in the world and a state leader of community education and business and industry training.

A medical doctor To continue to be responsive to the needs of our workforce and community, we must create an endowment that supports institutional advancement of the College and its programs. The District Advancement Endowment supports three main initiatives that are critical for our local businesses and industries to remain competitive in today's global market.

Community-Driven Program Enhancement - OCTC must have the capability to deliver communitydriven educational programs, such as Allied Health and Biotechnology. These programs will help us to continue to meet workforce needs and provide jobs that pay competitive wages, support families, and overcome the low-wage syndrome and its related social problems.

"Having OCTC in our area is nothing but a total asset. As a member of the KY Cabinet of Economic Development Partnership Board, I see communities that excel and are above the mark in recruiting business and industry because of having community and technical colleges in their area. I'm proud to say that OCTC has increased their workforce development and customized training classes by 57% in the last year. That is astronomical when you take a look at the state as a whole and what we are doing to help our existing businesses move forward."
