Somerset Community College has long enjoyed the excellent reputation of an institution providing quality transfer education at a modest cost. When SCC became a part of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, a larger vision began to emerge for us. By consolidating our resources with the neighboring colleges of Somerset Technical College and Laurel Technical College, we could begin to fulfill a promise made to Kentucky in 1997: To expand postsecondary education opportunities for all citizens of the communities we serve.

Since our consolidation in 2000, we have evaluated our programs and our facilities for relevance and standards of quality. Where there was need, we have taken necessary steps to upgrade and improve, and we have added programs, services and facilities to better serve our region. We are now a fully accredited, comprehensive community college offering academic and technical education programs. We provide courses that lead to an associate degree designed specifically for transfer into a baccalaureate degree, technical degrees and certificates designed for immediate entry into the workforce, continuing education, customized training for business and industry, economic development activities and community service programs. We currently have two full service campuses in Somerset and London, and centers in three other locations, McCreary, Clinton and Russell Counties with enrollment numbers over 5700.

We recognize and embrace our mission to provide quality educational opportunities for all of our students, and our students, faculty, and programs continue to receive national recognition for their accomplishments. Our Fulfilling the Promise Campaign seeks investments from individuals, corporations, foundations and other groups who choose to be a part of Somerset Community Colleges mission to improve the lives of our students and our communities.
