Kentucky Community and Technical College System
Style Guide

Publications

With ads, brochures and other printed materials, a “system identity callout” is used to carry the full KCTCS name and to permit the KCTCS logo to be dropped when using the college logos, thus giving materials a cleaner look.

Use with the System Bar

The bar is always used in either Pantone 541 blue for full-color materials or black for others with the copy reversed.

KCTCS Arch

One of the defining elements of the new standards is an arch incorporated into all print/collateral materials. This arch has been established to provide KCTCS with a unique identity.

In these examples, the arch is the holding area for any subheads, copy and/or corporate/college/campus identity.

The arch should be used white in most instances with the holding area above it either a color or a textured image. The best proportion for the arch is for every inch of width, there should be 1/16 inch of height (see diagram below).

The height of the arch equals 6x 1/16. The height of the arch area should be determined by the amount of space any elements should need to fit comfortably.

For example, if there is an area six inches wide, the height of the arch at the highest center point is 6/16” or 3/8”. This dimension can be reduced slightly if the arch seems too tall but should never be increased.
