MCC Graduates Receive Phi Theta Kappa Transfer ScholarshipBy Margo Hamm
Shelly Legge will be transferring to Morehead State University to complete her bachelor's degree in engineering technology. Shelly will be awarded a renewable $1,500 per year scholarship. Applicants are required to be a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society and have a minimum 3.5 GPA. Shelly served as the 2002-2003 Vice-President for Leadership for Beta Alpha Rho at MCC. Shelly was recently named to the KCTCS Academic Achievement Team. Phi Theta Kappa is the International Honor Society of two-year colleges. Phi Theta Kappa is based on 4 cornerstones; Leadership. Fellowship, Scholarship and Service. Membership in Phi That Kappa Honor Society offers a myriad of opportunities for scholarships, intellectual enrichment, and personal development Phi Theta Kappa has recognized academic excellence in the two-year college since 1918 and has become the largest and the most prestigious honor society serving two-year college around the world. To join the Beta Alpha Rho chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Maysville Community College students must be enrolled at MCC, have completed 12 credit hours towards an associate degree with a 3.4 GPA or higher.
